TUITION & OTHER MATTERS: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT IS THE COST OF THIS PROGRAM? US$ 2,008.00 is at present the total tuition (exclusive of some suggested textbooks that are optional and whose aggregate cost is under US$200.00.) for the program when prepaid. Tuition may be paid at the time of enrollment ($2,008.00) or in four equal payments of $625.00 within the first year of enrollment, with a first payment due at the time of registration. Graduates of the Foundation Course (when taken separately, whether in redience or via distance learning) are extended a tuition abatement in the amount of $300.00. IS THIS PROGRAM APPROVED OR ACCREDITED? The New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda is operated by the Starseed Educational Company, a federally recognized section 501(c)(3) exempt organization, and is authorized to operate as a private correspondence school in the state of New Jersey under the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Act of 1968 (as amended), New Jersey Statutes Title 18A:69-7. At the present time, no national standard either for the certification of Ayurvedic practitioners nor for the accreditation of institutions training such individuals has been elaborated. The two largest United States based organizations of Ayurvedic practitioners, the National Ayurvedic Medical Association and the California Association for Ayurvedic Medicine are currently developing such standards. It is the intention of the New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda to offer a program that complies with the requirements of the foregoing. WHAT IS AYURVEDA? Ayurveda, or Ayurvedic medicine, is the world's most ancient system of scientific medicine and preventive health care. Developed in India over the course of many thousands of years, Ayurveda (which translates as "science of life") is a natural approach to creating balance, promoting healthful life-styles, and strengthening the body's healing abilities when faced with disease, debility or injury. WHAT HEALING MODALITIES DOES AYURVEDA USE? Diet, exercise, and yoga are very frequently used in Ayurveda, as are herbal and other naturally-derived remedies, massage and manipulation, energetic therapies, psychological counseling and various de-toxification strategies. The hallmark of the Ayurvedic approach is that the means employed to avert or treat disease are natural, and when appropriately used, incapable of causing their user harm, in marked contrast to much of what today comprises Western medical practice. WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM'S PURPOSE? The New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda, hosted by the Starseed Center for Yoga and Wellness, has one goal: to provide the best education and training available in North America today for the next generation of Ayurvedic practitioners, at reasonable and modest cost, in a fashion designed to meet the educational, professional and other needs of mature learners, and consonant with the anticipated public demand and employment markets for Ayurvedic practitioners. ONCE I HAVE OBTAINED MY DIPLOMA IN AYURVEDA, HOW CAN I ADVANCE MY EDUCATION AND TRAINING? The New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda is engaged in a relationship with the Sai Ayurvedic College of Miami, Florida - one of the first four professional schools of ayurveda in the United States approved by the National Ayurvedic Medical Association - for advanced standing entry into their degree program. HOW CAN I REGISTER/ENROLL IN THIS PROGRAM? By completing the application for admission that appears on this website. |
