FACULTY
The New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda (NJIA) at the Starseed Center for Yoga & Wellness is a professional-level training program for aspiring practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine, the 6,000 year old healing tradition of the Indian subcontinent. The program comprises a series of distance learning formatted modules in the basic and clinical sciences designed to afford the highest quality of education and training.

Areas of instruction in the independent study program include anatomy and physiology; history and traditions of Ayurveda; pathology; theory and practice; manipulative therapy; botanical medicine; physical diagnosis; constitutional analysis; nutrition and food theory; preventive medicine, psychology and counseling, energetic therapies and ayurvedic psychology and counselling.

Within the NJIA program, the first course (and a prerequisite for the other courses in the program) is the Ayurvedic Foundation-Level Certification Course, an intensive, a broad and deeply detailed initiation into the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and their application. The Foundation-Level Certification Course is intended to serve two functions: firstly, to provide prospective Ayurvedic practitioners with a sound basis for further study of the basic and clinical sciences. Secondly, it is intended for the general public who, while not planning to continue training, nonetheless desire to take a larger measure of responsibility in caring for their own health and that of their families. Upon completion and the successful passage of a comprehensive final examination, the student is awarded the Certificate in Ayurvedic Self-Care & Health Maintenance. The foundation course is offered periodically on a residential basis and as a continuous enrollment distance learning/self study course.

The distinction awarded to graduates of the New Jersey Institute of Ayurveda’s professional program is the Diploma in Ayurveda.
